transforming reality
Exploring the blurred line between the real and the imaginary through abstraction.

Artist Statement
My current works pursue a long interest in the natural and constructed environment, depicting alluring alternative worlds created by distorting reality. I am inspired by the world around me to create abstract forms that are neither real nor imaginary, that play with a duality that distorts perceptions of belonging to either. The shift of these ambiguous images is a common thread in my works that allows the elements within them to defy expectations and still portray the beauty of the natural world. Their creation is intuitive and a subconscious response that reveals my creative identity and an insight into a way of understanding and appreciating the world around us.
Stylistically my work belongs to a contemporary abstract genre. There are elements that relate to the 20th century abstract expressionist movement, but the medium places it clearly in the 21st century.
